Review of Education related laws

Work under the programme commenced in September, 2003. The review of the Education Act was necessitated by the fact that is an old statute enacted in 1962 and hence the need to align it with the Constitution and developments in comparable foreign jurisdictions and applicable international law.

The review is still on going and the tentative reforms suggest provisions to regulate basic education and its parameters; secondary education; teacher training; an elaborate & sound administration structure; comprehensive regulations for privately run educational institutions.
