Review of the Penal Code - 2000

In 1995, Government appointed a Task Force on Legal and Judicial reforms. In its report presented to the President in 1996, The Task Force recommended an overhaul of all laws pertaining to Criminal Justice. The Penal Code was among the eight statutes recommended for review. The Commission finalized the review of the Penal Code in 1999 and a Government Bill is pending in Parliament.
